Memories of Dang
by Tyler White
Ah, the peanut butter and Corn Flake cookies she used to make!
They were always in that brown wooden breadbox where I could easily take!
I would bring them to her covered patio and watch the boats go by!
She used to come out with her Camel cigarettes, and I would watch the smoke fly!
She would lick those ruby red lips until they were dry!
Sometimes she made me laugh so hard, I wanted to cry!
I remember her white shiny hair that was so bright
It looked like the moon on a dark warm night!
And on Sunday afternoons, she would sit in her chair
And watch the Skins game on TV with such a glare.
My sisters and I would lie on the floor
And play some of those games that were in her drawer!
We would laugh when she yelled at Larry and Mom.
I can remember her words, “No really that’s absurd.”
I will hold these memories and much much more
Forever and ever and tell my kids galore!
I will look up in the sky to see that new star
And I know you will be there not too far!
I love you, Dang.
