Loren Craig Hickman
"A Pilgrim on the Edge of His Perception"
Loren Craig Hickman was born in Sioux City, Iowa on April 30, 1936 to Esther and Simeon Hickman. He joined his two older brothers, Fred and Martin. From very early on, it was clear that Loren was a curious adventurer. After graduating magna cum laude from Harvard, he began his travels first to Mexico and then to Europe and Northern Africa. He met his wife, Donna, in Morocco, and they raised two sons, Sim and David. Loren joined McGraw Hill Publishing Company in Chicago, Loren with his brothers, Martin and Fred becoming the youngest editor they had ever promoted. He moved with this company to Washington, DC. In 1986, when McGraw Hill closed their D.C. office, Loren headed out to San Francisco, finding work with Miller Freeman Publishing. It was here that he met Nancy Webster Ware, and the rest.... is history.
