Weave the Web

Dave Hickman was born in Chicago, IL joining his older brother Simeon. He came into this world with enthusiasm and a joie de vivre that has never left him. As a young child, he enjoyed grilled cheese sandwiches, working with his hands, and avoiding run ins with Sim- all of which he did with gusto. He moved to Rockville, MD where he attended one of the best public schools in the country and graduated with honors with an international baccalaureate degree. Moving out west, he attended the University of California at Santa Cruz which expanded an already fertile mind. He has always followed his passion which has led him to teaching fourth graders, playing music and living with his wife, Mel and their two dogs, Tucker and Lexie.

He has been teaching at The Mark's School for many years and was awarded a Masters degree at the Klinginstein Summer Institute at Columbia University.   In 2013 he became the high school placement director at St Marks, and in 2014 was named Dierctor of Student Affairs. Most recently he was promoted to the Head of the Upper School and has earned the respect of parents and teachers alike.

The latest member of the family is Lottie, their RV, that is allowing them to break the mold, sidestep the rut and create new adventures for themselves.​
